ABOUT
BLACKSPECTER runs one strategy in the open. No portfolio of secrets, no proprietary edge to protect — just a single mean-reversion idea on liquid US ETFs, paper-traded in public so the math has to defend itself.
The thinking is borrowed from the Renaissance approach: many small, rigorously measured edges beat a single grand thesis. We start with one. If it survives a year of public scrutiny, we add the next.
What you see here is real-time. Signals are generated daily after the US close at 22:10 Europe/Berlin on a Hetzner server in Helsinki, written to an append-only Postgres, and streamed live to this page. The backing code, the backtest, the bug fixes — all of it on the record.
Principles
- Honest backtests. We publish the execution-realistic Sharpe (0.46), not the close-to-close fantasy (0.72).
- Public failure mode. If the strategy blows up, the equity curve will show it. There is no edit button.
- Append-only history. Every signal, trade, and changelog entry is immutable in the database. Backups daily.
- One thing at a time. Specter is the only live system. New strategies enter only after the current one has earned the right.
